Annual Meet held at Srimatam
His Holiness inaugurating the meet
The annual meet of the Akhila Bharata Teertha Purohita Sabha was held at Srimatam, Kanchipuram in the benign presence of Their Holinesses Pujyasri Jayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamiji and Pujyasri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamiji. Every year, the sabha meets in different places and this year, this holy temple town was chosen and the meet was fully organized by Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham on the 8th and 9th March 2011.
Theertha Purohits from Baidynath Dhama(Bihar), Brindavan, Mathura, Haridwar, Kurukshethra, Rajgir(Bihar), Rameswaram, Triambakesh, and Ujjain attended the seminar.On the first day, the 8th March, at 9.00 AM the Purohits came in a procession from Sri Kamakshi Kalyana Mandapam near Kamakshi Temple to Sri Sankara Matam and assembled at the Maha mandapam in front of Maha Swamijis Adhistanam.
The meet was inaugurated by His Holiness Pujyasri Jayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamiji. His Holiness blessed the gathering with Anugraha Bhasahanam and honoured all the participants. Sri Kodur Ramani Sastri, General Secretaryof ABTPM(Akhil Bharathiya Theertha Purohit Maha Sabha), welcomed the gathering, and the Presidential address was given by Pandit Sri Parkash Mishra, President of ABTPM.
The aAfternoon session started with welcome address by Sri Ravindra Dasputra Panda, Vice President, ABTPM, followed by lectures by eminent pandits from different parts of Bharat Desh.
In the evening, the participating purohits had the darshan and blessings of His Holiness Pujyasri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamiji.
Early next day, all the Pandits were taken for a temple tour to various temples including Sri Kamakshi Mandir and Sri Ekambareswar temple. At 10.00 Hrs, a working committee meeting of The Sabha was held to discuss the following points and to draft follow up action.
1. Membership in Parliament/Rajya Sabha for Theertha Purohit
2. Expansion of the Sabha with a T.V. media.
3. Effort to get Railway concession to attend the Purohit Seminar and related activities.
The two-day meet concluded with the sabha president’s Vote of Thanks. The sabha president requested for the continued guidance and benediction of His Holiness.
In the evening, the Purohits were taken for a visit to The Mani Mandapam of Pujyasri Mahaswamiji at Orikkai and to the Photo gallery and exhibition at Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Cultural Centre, Vedal.
More than 150 purohits from all over India took part in the meet.
Religious books and cassettes were distributed during the event.
